Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Engelbrecht is a registered Medical Practitioner with a licence to practise and on the GMC’s Specialist Register under the category General Psychiatry. She trained in the NHS and worked as an NHS Consultant Psychiatrist before moving to Jersey in the Channel Islands. She has worked in a range of settings including outpatient, inpatient and community settings.

She sees self-funding patients and she is registered with all the major insurance companies. She has expertise in diagnosing and treating the full range of psychiatric disorders, including mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety and panic disorder, psychosis, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and alcohol and drug related problems. Dr Engelbrecht can also offer community alcohol detoxification supported by an Alcohol Detoxification Nurse Practitioner.

Additionally she has been involved in the preparation of medico-legal reports and is instructed in civil, criminal and family matters. Dr Engelbrecht provides mental capacity assessments, psychiatric evaluations of the effects of abuse, neglect or trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder and personal injury. She also provides psychiatric evaluations relating to occupational health matters including fitness to return to work and early retirement on medical grounds. She is an Approved Practitioner under Mental Health (Jersey) Law.

Dr Engelbrecht has an outpatient clinic on Friday mornings at the Lido Medical Centre.
